Personal Information
My name is Jon and I am one of four children (I'm number three). I have a sister and two brothers. I was born in, and grew up in Kawerau, which is a small town in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand. Kawerau was a great place to grow up in, but sadly, is not as exciting now as it was as a kid. I am still in the Bay of Plenty though, as I think it is the best region in the country to live in!
I got married in 2001 and I'm really enjoying married life. We had our honeymoon in Rarotonga which is a fantastic place to relax and get away from it all for a while. We went snorkelling every day except one, went diving with Cook Island Divers and zipped around the Island on a motor scooter - the most popular form of transport on the Island, or so it seems!
On June 1 2002 we had a beautiful little daughter. Bailey Rose Gebert came into our lives.
Then on 8 July 2004 we were blessed with another daughter, Abby Louise.
Life as a father is great - most of the time!

Personal Interests
I am a Volunteer Firefighter. I was involved for about 9 years before moving and having about a year off. I am now back into it in the Papamoa Brigade.
I was also involved in Scouting. I started out as a Cub at the age of seven and worked my way through the movement for about 17 years, finishing as a Venturer leader. I really enjoyed my time in Scouting and got a lot out of it.
I enjoy caving and abseiling, water skiing, snow skiing/boarding, tramping and camping. Although I don't get out there and do them as often as I would like to, or could do! Hopefully that might change sometime! As part of my love for the outdoors and because I enjoy a challenge, I went to Outward Bound in 1996 and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge and is prepared to push their own boundaries! You can get through by doing the bare minimum, but if want anything out of it, you have to put something into it.

I have also become more interested in genealogy. I use an excellant software package called Family Tree Maker. Check out the Family Tree Maker web site.
